Dinner and Discussion at Tavern on Jane

Due to construction at Moonstruck Diner I am changing the location of our meetup to Tavern on Jane, which is also a popular spot with a large menu and full bar. And like previous times, we'll have a room all to ourselves.

Let's continue with our "Human Emotions" theme. Last time we discussed "happiness and its elusive (or not elusive) qualities. Here are a few specific topic suggestions for this time:

1. What is the purpose of guilt, and why do we feel it?

2. What makes you trust someone?

3. What is at the root of jealousy?

4. Is there any positive aspect(s) of anger?

5. Is love a human invention?

Please suggest further ideas, and we'll vote on a specific topic at the meetup.

(A $2 voluntary contribution to cover Meetup fees would be appreciated!)

a bit frustrating because we were told to wait our turn to talk, but people would keep jumping in. At one point I felt my head would explode because I had been waiting patiently so long.

Sorry - I was probably talking most of all. :(

Great discussion - thanks to Leslie for organizing it. Jane Street Tavern is my favorite venue. Love the square table in our own room, and the food is great. At those long tables, it ends up as lots of separate discussions and I can't hear most of what is said.

Kam, just signal - or, better yet, kick me under the table - then I'll shut up.

Kam, you're too nice of a person! The rest of us will need to be wary of your right to get a word in. My guess is that next time, all of us will be more sensitive and will let you speak!

Lovely evening. Good conversation and good food. I love the big square table. It really helps the flow of conversation.

Excellent discussion. Even I was made aware of aspects of the subject that were new to me

Thank you Leslie for organizing a very dynamic group of people for our discussion tonight. I appreciated such a sensitive topic and was engaged by everyone's input. I left with a smile on my face and food for thought.

Very pleasant, and I think that the topic was about aloneness & loneliness brought us all closer together. Everyone seemed genuinely interested in hearing what everyone speaking had to say. Nice to meet you all.

How do emotions differ when they are about other people vs other objects vs oneself?
