Join us as we cycle from Glasgow to Edinburgh to meet thousands of other cyclists on the annual Pedal on Parliament mass ride from The Meadows to the Parliament buildings.

Pedal on Parliament (POP) seeks to make Scotland a cycle friendly country by campaigning for:

  1. Proper funding for cycling.
  2. Design cycling into Scotland’s roads.
  3. Safer speeds where people live, work and play
  4. Integrate cycling into local transport strategies
  5. Sensible road traffic law and enforcement
  6. Reduce the risk of HGVs to cyclists and pedestrians
  7. A strategic and joined-up programme of road user training
  8. Solid research on cycling to support policy-making

Meet up at George Square at 7am where we will leave to ride along Duke Street and Edinburgh Road to join the A89. This will take us straight through Airdire, Plains, Caldercruix, Bathgate, Broxburn, and then onto Glasgow road through Corstorphine and on towards the Meadows. The route to Edinburgh is 46 miles and is relatively flat.

En route we may naturally break into smaller groups of varying speeds but we have a number of riders who know the route to show the way and who will check that no-one is left behind. We will also have regular re-group points as well as a tea and cake stop in Bathgate. The POP ride leaves from the Meadows at 12 noon so bear this in mind with your pace.

Remember to come adequately dressed for the weather and be aware that there may be some standing around at the Edinburgh end.

Some hardcore riders may ride back to Glasgow. You'd be welcome to tag along although this will not be an official group ride. For others, there is often greater provision made for bikes on trains on POP day.

Please note that this is a feeder ride, not a led ride. You will be riding at your own risk and insurance is your own responsibility.
