This event is built for me. I was lucky enough to visit one of Tokyo's coolest cat cafés -- Nekobukuro -- a couple of years ago, and ever since then I've been religiously seeking a cat café to visit stateside.

When Carlos Wong launched his kickstarter to open the first cat café in L.A., I waited patiently and hoped the project would lead to something epic. Unfortunately, he didn't meet his goal the first time around.

BUT! He's using the funds he's raised to open up a pop-up cat café in Chinatown, and hoping the event will raise enough funds to make this a permanent thing!

I'll post more details as I get them, but here's what I know so far:

Wong is opening a pop-up Catfé in the Far East Plaza in Chinatown on Oct. 2 through Oct. 5. This pop-up event is a partnership between Wong and Chinatown BID and Best Friends LA (a no-kill shelter) (who we actually went to go visit and volunteer for during a previous Meetup. Guests to the cafe will be able to pet cats and interact with costumed maids and butlers. If you fall in love with a furry buddy and are over 18, you can adopt him or her. There will also be a performance by DJs and band Lolita Dark (http://www.lolitadark.com/#!about/c161y), who are the authors of a song called "Kitty Nyan Nyan" that appears on Wong's Kickstarter.

The catfé will be open all 4 days, from 4pm to 9pm each day.
