The park's 6,000-plus acres have been the backdrop for thousands of movie and TV scenes since 1927. It was the backdrop for a primate-run world in "Planet of the Apes" in 1968 and where "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" were chased over a cliff by a pursuing posse in 1969.

This is a easy pace hike of about 5 to 6 miles with very little elevation gain with lots of variety in scenery. This is a Lovely walk down an oak shaded lane, a stunning rock pool with vertical walls of volcanic rock, a picturesque lake pretty enough for a calendar and sweeping views and vistas.

Hike:

We will hike to the Mash Site where they filmed Mash and Planet of the Apes among many other movies and then we will proceed to Century Lake - a small reservoir with a stunning reflection of the scenic surroundings. Then we will walk to the Rock Pools area at the end of the hike. At the Rock Pool, watch rock climbers attempt to scale the Planet of the Apes wall, were the movie was filmed. Again, This is a easy hike 5 to 6 miles RT with 400 ft elevation gain. If you are looking to get on a fast pace hike or major work out this is not the hike for you. We will be going slow and enjoying are souroundings taking pictures and talking.

The hike will take approx. 3 hours depending on how we feel. Beginners in good shape can do this hike. Some of the path has quite a few rocks on it, so it isn't a smooth trail. Bring your cameras for this hike! You'll see some awesome scenery! This is a beautiful easy paced hike with a optional picnic at the mash site. please bring a positive attitude with a smile.

This event is cross posted with Single professional exchange.

There is free parking on the street:

Please read signs carefully.

We'll meet at The corner of Las Virgenes Rd and Mulholland HWY to avoid/save the $12 dollar parking fees of the State Park. If you feel guilty for not paying the park fee, you are welcome to give it to me and it will go to my favorit cause.
