Queens Library Open History Editathon

Details

The Edit-a-thon will run from morning to evening, where we'll develop Wikipedia articles about Queens history and communities. Editors will have the opportunity to utilize Queen Library's extensive local history collections.

Hosted by Queens Library, Wikimedia NYC and the Metropolitan New York Library Council.

Drop in at anytime from 10am to 7pm! We'll be there to help you on an individual basis whenever you can come in during the day or early evening.

This event includes an introduction to Wikipedia writing images and two duplicate trainings on using Wikipedia held in the morning and afternoon. No special Wiki knowledge is required to participate, just ethusiasm and a love of Queens.

Wikipedians will be on hand to provide basic training on how to edit articles, provide more advanced training for the experienced, and answer any other questions about Wikipedia and the organizational aspects of Wikipedia editing which go on in classrooms libraries, archives, and museums all over the world.
