There is a great bike path on the west end of Eugene, out by the wetlands heading towards Fern Ridge Lake. The bike path is very flat, smooth, and reasonably lit. The ride crosses the Amazon Creek and has amazing views of the wetlands and parts of the South Hills. Once on the bike path, there are no worries of cars and traffic.
Plan on meeting in the parking lot of Albertson's, on the corner of Royal and Danebo, near the gas station and little coffee shop. Not at the Chevron.
Bring some water and a bike light, it will probably be getting dark as we finish our bike ride. The path is well lit, with lamp post along most of the path.
Route: From Albertson's parking lot we will head south along Danebo towards Roosevelt. We will turn right onto Roosevelt and follow the provided bike lane out to the Fern Ridge Path. Once there, we will be able to ride along the path without the worries of cars and traffic. We will ride out to the Meadowlark Prairie parking lot along Green Hill, take a short breather and head back the way we came. The route is about 5 miles total and flat. Great for an evening bike ride.
On the map link below, "A" is Albertson's and "B" is the start of the bike path. The bike path is the small white lines to the left of "B".
