Thomas Jefferson

This new book by Jon Meacham sounds like a relatively easy read, while giving a vivid image of Thomas Jefferson and of the times in which he lived. The book also revolves around the nature of power and how to best use it while establishing a government, which seems a propos in our current times when many countries are trying to do the same.

Thomas Jefferson: The art of power, by Jon Meacham

From Amazon:

"In this magnificent biography, the Pulitzer Prize–winning author of American Lion and Franklin and Winston brings vividly to life an extraordinary man and his remarkable times. Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power gives us Jefferson the politician and president, a great and complex human being forever engaged in the wars of his era. Philosophers think; politicians maneuver. Jefferson’s genius was that he was both and could do both, often simultaneously. Such is the art of power."

I really want to read this book but haven't gotten it yet. I wonder if anyone who missed these two opportunities for a group discussion would be interested in a third gathering. I'd be willing to host.

I love this group, but it's the night before and a place just opened up - unfortunately I haven't read the book.

Sorry, I won't have a lot of extra time for reading this month. I've got to move the last week of February.

Funny, I've recently been studying Jefferson a bit so this will definitely enhance my knowledge.
