Moving here was quite an adjustment after the relative anonymity of the city. It has been difficult for me to find people who want to hear anything I might have to say. I have many good friends who are awesome, but they all live so far away. I don't feel like there are many people in the area my age who don't have children or are not married, and i think people turn to churches many times to get the support and approval they need. These outward things are a form of social currency, and I somewhat resent feeling rejected for not playing along. Skepticism has served me well, and I also have a healthy dose of self-skepticism as well (I.e. Just because I think or feel something to be true doesn't mean it necessarily is.) I don't like to argue, I like to open my mind a crack and learn what other people think and feel too. I do have a very unique perspective and have travelled a very different path than most. I feel I can add something to this group.
Sorry for the goofy Facebook photo...I am a young(ish) woman in Bridgeport, who moved here thinking surely there would be plenty of free thinkers to make friends with anywhere I went.
I do apologize for RSVP-ing and not showing in the past. I will try to do better. I love the group and its members, but Sundays are tricky for me. I would like to be involved in growing the group, and will make every effort to be at the next meeting!
