Let's Learn Python!

  • Nov 12, 2012 · 6:30 PM

Python is powerful... and fast

Fans of Python use the phrase "batteries included" to describe the standard library, which covers everything from asynchronous processing to zip files. The language itself is a flexible powerhouse that can handle practically any problem domain. You can build your own web server in three lines of code, how's that for awesome? It's a superb language for teaching programming, both at the introductory level and for more advanced, so no matter where you are coming in at, Python is a great language to know.

(referencing previous Ri Liu html5/css3 class)
can Ri, or anyone, remind me which embedded timeline app was used for the history of HTML?

Can you tell us a little more about what this course is going to cover? I'm developer but have never used python before. Is this more of an introductory programming course or is it geared towards programmers who want to learn a new language?

This class like all our intro classes is going to be a balance of the two. Our classes tend to attract people with less experience and that means the class will be more geared towards learning programming. We always have people in the class who have more experience, and we try to accomodate that by giving more challenging problems for people who are moving fast.
