March Java Study Group --Denver

Details

Come one, come all, and hone your skills in one of the industry's most-used languages. This is an inclusive study group for women of all skill levels who would like to practice Java. Are you learning Java and looking for other women to study with? Do you have a project you'd like to collaborate on? Are you a Java beginner and would like some help getting started? ...Join us!! Our Format: This is a self-directed session where you can work through your latest project, tutorial, or book. Bring your current project and work on it, collaborate, or get some help! We will even have programming books on hand for you to use.

Newbies are welcome!: If you're brand-spakin-new, just show up and we'll get you started with online tutorials and some beginner-friendly projects. This will be an inclusive work session where we can spend some time upgrading our own skills and helping each other build theirs. From experts to beginners, all are welcome. Where: We are hosted at Denver tech-hub Galvanize, located at 1062 Delaware St, Denver CO (11th and Delaware). Signs will be posted!

What to bring: Your computer and something to work on, if you have it. A list of your favorite online resources. Any books you would like to share.

If you are a beginner, there's no need to have Java installed -- we can point you to online-only resources. But for intermediate and above, we can get to the good stuff faster if you come prepared with a Java setup, including: • Java. We recommend the most recent Java Development Kit, which you can download for free from Sun

• An editor or IDE. Can be as simple as Notepad or as complicated as your favorite professional development environment (NetBeans, Eclipse, etc). For beginners, we recommend Dr. Java.

Food: TalentRiot has generously offered to sponsor us for food and drink. The plan is to order some food for delivery -- pizza, unless we get requests otherwise! Questions: If you have any questions, please comment in the event or email one of the hosts.

Please Note: Our members self-identify as female. We emphatically support transgender attendees and are queer-friendly.
