Women Writing for (a) Change, Jacksonville, is offering a new workshop series this fall for women who love both collage and writing.

WHAT: Art + Soul Series
WHEN: Starts September 19, 2014, on alternating Fridays
TIME: 11:30 to 1:30 p.m.
COST: $175 for the 6-week series

WHY THIS CIRCLE NOW?
The truth is, I myself LOVE making collages and I LOVE to write. So, this circle is my excuse to get together with other women and create within that structure. I've got several colleagues in the Women Writing for (a) Change community across the country who have developed rich curriculums for this kind of circle, so I intend to follow in their footsteps and see what delightful things emerge.

FORMAT AND MATERIALS
My intention is for you to hand-make a mini-book that you will collage in each time, based on a theme. You will end the series with a lovely little book of inner wisdom and creative spirit — along with a series of writings to mark your creative journey.

WHEN WILL WE DO IT?
The Art and Soul Series Starts Friday, Sept. 19, for 6 weeks, from 11:30-1:30, on ALTERNATING FRIDAYS. So, we will meet Sept. 19, Oct. 3, Oct. 17, Oct. 31, Nov. 14, and Nov. 21 (last two sessions one week apart due to Thanksgiving holiday).

WHO WOULD ENJOY IT?
This is a great circle for women who 1) can take a long lunch on Fridays; 2) can't get away in the evenings; 3) would prefer a lighter schedule than the regular Fall Series on Wednesday nights, but want the consistency and structure of a regular class.

WILL WE DO A READ-AROUND?
You betcha! You'll be invited to read during our Public Read-Around in early December, and you can display your mini-books there if you would like to.

COST
The cost is based on $30 per class, or $175 total (Early Bird Price), with a $75 deposit. Covers materials and light lunch refreshments. You can bring a bag lunch and we'll also have a mini-potluck each time. (After September 12, tuition is $185.)

HOW WILL THIS TRANSFORM MY LIFE?
Personally, the meditative state that I get into when collaging brings forth many important messages from my subconscious. I've had many important breakthroughs from my collages over the past few years, and, I look forward to seeing how this process transforms each one of us.
