Introduction to WooCommerce

Welcome to the new year!

In collaboration with the WordPress SFO meetup, this meetup will introduce WooCommerce and share the stories of some stores built using WordPress + WooCommerce.

Come along to get an introduction to the WooCommerce plugin and to discuss the idea of building your client's or your own store on WordPress.

Exact details subject to change, but it will most likely be sometime in the 3rd week of January 2014 at Automattic's office (combined with the first WP SFO meetup for 2014).

WordPress, the world's most popular publishing software, now hosts the world's fastest growing e-commerce software, WooCommerce*.

So why is WooCommerce so popular? Why would you want to set up a store on WordPress? And what the heck is this WooCommerce thingamajig anyway?

In this talk, Brent will demonstrate the most interesting features of the WooCommerce plugin and discuss why its open source foundation combined with a marketplace for extensions is helping foster a rapidly growing community. He’ll also share the stories of some folks now making a living thanks to the free WooCommerce plugin.

Brent now lives in San Francisco but hails from Australia where he was a co-organiser of WordCamp Melbourne and WordCamp Gold Coast. He’s has an unnatural love for WooCommerce, which is why he spends his days as an independent WooCommerce developer working on WooCommerce Subscriptions - the most popular 3rd party extension in the official WooCommerce marketplace.
