October Wordpress Canberra Meetup

  • Oct 10, 2012 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

The second Wordpress Canberra Meetup is scheduled!

We will meet in the Ferguson room of the National Library of Australia.  The Ferguson Room is on first floor of the Library. It's a glass room up on the left as you walk into the foyer.

The NLA Cafe will be open till 6pm - so get there a little early to grab your cuppa.

Our guest speaker is Paul Hagon, Senior web designer, at the National Library of Australia.

Paul will give an overview of how the Library is using WordPress as well as an insight into how the Library manages their many authors, what their tempting setup is like & how their infrastructure is built.

We will also be looking for Lightning Talks - so get thinking! A lightning talk is 5 minutes long on a particular subject - it might be your fave plugin, the way you handle workflow through your WP site, demoing a site you've created, anything to do with WordPress.

If you have an idea for a Lightning Talk, please
email me with your topic - whether you'll need a projector / internet connectivity etc. and we'll organise the schedule for the evening.

Brilliant locale and a thoughtful edifying case study from Paul.

Getting tips on my WordPress demon made my night.

Paul that was a very professional presentation and a fantastic overview of the great work being done at the NLA. I also thought it was a brilliant overview of how to run a first rate environment for WordPress. Usually such presentations are drab and boring and hard to follow. Being a diverse group of beginners, that's not easy. I learnt so much, not just about WordPress but how to present a challenging topic. The NLA is lucky to have you on their team.

Thanks Paul for an interesting talk. Thoroughly enjoyed it. It was also fantastic to meet everyone and hear the varied uses of WordPress. I look forward to the next meeting and learning more. Thanks Jason and Charly for organizing this meet-up.

We've had quite a few acceptances for Wednesday's Meetup.
Would love to have someone offer to do a lightning talk or too....

If you haven't RSVP'd yet, please do so - we WILL have name tags ready on Wednesday night.

If it turns out you can't make it - please update your RSVP so we know.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
