BuddyPress Case Study - BuddyPress use in an English Language School - Vernon Fowler

After learning about BuddyPress at WordCamp Melbourne 2011, it was only a matter of time before vernon found a project to build and learn more. This presentation is intended to show not only what BuddyPress can do, but also to pick up on some of the challenges that BuddyPress presents developers who are familiar with WordPress. A couple of code snippets, a short list of plugins, some resources and tips that applied to the development of this education sector project - most of them re-usable on other social network projects.

About Vernon Fowler

Vernon is the eLearning Coordinator at Hawthorn English, a private English language school that feeds international students to local universities. In another role he is the Web Analyst for the Australian Drug Information Network (ADIN). He also does a couple of days on web technologies at the Australian Drug Foundation. And under yet another hat, he's been building WordPress sites for the Southern Cross Free Trappers (http://freetrappers.org.au) a living history reenactment group, and Eucalypt Productions (http://eucalyptproductions.com).
