The WordPress Sunshine Coast Meetup is for any WordPress user - new or experienced - who wants to learn more about WordPress, network with other users, designers and developers, and discuss all things WordPress.
We host a free meetup every month that address topics aimed at:
• Beginners just starting out.
• People using WordPress for their business or website.
• More experienced users who want to do more with WordPress.
• Technical-minded developers, designers and freelancers.
Regardless of whether you use WordPress as a developer, designer, business or blogger, our monthly meetups are sure to help you get the most out of this amazing open source software.

👀 Let's Explore WordPress 6.9 & State of the Word 2025
Salty Spaces, The Wharf Mooloolaba, 123 Parkyn Parade, Mooloolaba QLD 4557, Mooloolaba, AUIn our last WordPress Sunshine Coast Meetup of 2025, we're going to explore the latest release of WordPress 6.9 which will be released on December 2, 2025.
We'll fire up a local site, and look at some of the new features and improvements together to see what they are, how they work and where you can use them to improve your WordPress website.
Some of the features we will talk about and explore:
- New blocks (accordion, terms query, math & time to read)
- Template management
- Hiding blocks
- The Command Palette
- Block level commenting (maybe)
We'll also chat through some of the developer features like the new Abilities API, and improvements to the Interactivity API and DataViews.
Lastly, we will also cover State of the Word 2025 which is taking place in California, USA on December 2, 2025. We'll recap any news and an overview of the event, and then have an open discussion about what the future has in store for WordPress.
