Discussion Forum: Ruling Class Ideology vs. Working Class Values
Details
When the rise of merchants and artisans and bankers brought to an end the rule of feudal nobility, they destroyed the view of the world that underpinned that age and replaced it with a new, revolutionary vision. Kings were no longer regarded as elected by Gpd, and therefore unchallengeable. Rather, the bourgeoisie espoused Enlightenment values like the equality of all men under the law.
We are again living at a time when the world view of the ruling class, that the 'unseen hand of the market' alone determines the quality of life, just isn't working out for most people. What are the tenets of the world view that they have to replace the values of the ruling class?
