Do you ever wonder what skills are needed to work as a paralegal in a different field (but don't want to make the immediate financial or time investment to take additional college courses)? If you answered "yes" to any of the above, then welcome to Workplace Paralegal 101!

Workplace Paralegal 101 is a resource group with a focus on providing professional skills training/development that can be immediately put to use in the office/law firm.
While college programs and continuing education courses provide a general knowledge base, they do not provide nor prepare you for the daily grind of working in a law firm or legal department of a company. In talking with other attorneys (and from my own personal experience), many wish that most paralegals had more concrete skills to better assist them in the office (e.g., able to review an NDA with little guidance or input from attorneys).

Workplace Paralegal will feature affordable professional development courses (online and live classes) and provide information for speaking engagements or conferences. More importantly, WorkPlace Paralegal 101 is a forum for paralegals to share personal experiences and advice to other paralegals, contract managers, legal assistants etc. Posts for legitimate job announcements are highly encouraged.

This group is open working paralegals, legal assistants, contract managers/administrator or executive assistants working in legal departments.

Current college students, career changers who are interested in working as a paralegal, or paralegals who want to gain exposure to different areas of law without having to take additional courses are also welcome to join Workplace Paralegal 101.

In addition to this meetup group there will be a website and a blogtalkradio show (both coming soon), to keep members updated on legal news, developments, emerging trends etc. Launch date will be announced very soon.
