What we’re about

To join Write Free or Die, submit here on Meetup (press the "Join" button). You'll be placed in a Pending status until you attend a meeting, after which your membership will be activated by the organizer.

Write Free Or Die is a writer’s critique and support group which does not restrict or judge the subject matter of the members’ writing. You choose what you want to write and the style you want to write it in, and we’ll help you make your choice as good as it can be. To be a part of this group, you must be willing to read and provide constructive feedback on any type of writing, even if it's "not your genre". Any genre or style is acceptable, from mainstream to experimental, tame to gruesome.

Some prior training and/or experience with writing is expected. The ideal member will be a not-yet-published aspiring author who has a strong desire to write novel-length work for publication. If you’re writing short stories, that’s also OK. The group will focus on fiction and nonfiction prose, so if you write poetry or screenplays, this is not the right group for you.

More detail about group format and structure is available in the Group Guidelines document, (https://www.meetup.com/Write-Free-Or-Die/about/) which is viewable by anyone.

Being a part of the group will require a time commitment. It’s expected that members will remain active, attending most meetings, providing feedback for others, and submitting their own work on a regular basis. Hopefully the work required will pay off in improvement of our writing skills and a greater feeling of community in what can sometimes be a lonely vocation.
