Short story. Looking to flesh out one idea at present.
Karen had made herself a promise. Each day of 2014 she would attempt to live the life of her favourite literary characters. Today, the fictional skin she would slip into would be that of Tyler Durden's. Picking her son's baseball from the umbrella stand in the hallway, she left the house with a single destination in mind; the red VW Beetle at the end of the street. Sure she was aware that the particular scene she was about to reenact wasn't in Chuck Palahniuk's seminal 1996 novel but she couldn't agree with Edward Norton's DVD commentary more; the new Beetle was a hideous attempt to repackage the youth movement and counter-culture of the 60s to simultaneously appease the same generation now sitting in chairs around the boardroom of the motor giant and the MTV children of the 90s, drawn to the promise of a better yesterday.
Aspiring writer with a number of short story ideas and a single novel concept... So far. Work in eBook publishing as a social media and community manager.
