This Meetup is not a Meetup, it's a Smackdown... We're taking on the .Net guys who think their MVC Framework holds up and maybe better than Rails, our weapon of choice.

Them's Fighting Words.

We'll be talking about 5 core issues surrounding modern web-app development:

1) Hosting: Azure and Appharbor vs. Heroku and EngineYard

2) ORM: ActiveRecord vs. EF

3) Performance: Threading and the GIL

4) Cost

5) Editor Templating vs. Scaffolding

Unfortunately we only have time to talk about these topics, which is actually probably good news for them.

This Meetup is being co-hosted by Simon Timms(@stimms) and the .NET user group so it will be a bigger than normal turnout I'm sure.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 20th!

Great, although it may have been better to cover few subjects in more detail. Like the idea of getting the .NET and Ruby groups was interesting to hear the different perspectives. Great work, organizers!

For those who are pressed for time (like me) when does that actual presentation part of it start?

Hi Terence, apologies for not getting back to you through email. We're asking for as close to 6 add possible, but that will probably slide due to the number of people coming and other factors. Absolutely no later than 6:30. Should last an hour.

No sweat, that works for me (and the proposal I'm trying to finish up!) See you shortly.

I can let people in if they arrive early (as long as the early attenders promise to behave). :)

Hi all! The doors will be open at 5. See you all there!

    Hi everyone!
It's fight night, and here's some info.

There will be pizza and beverages at the event tonight, but we are going to be limited in seating since there may be as many as 50 people tonight if the .NET RSVP list is any indication.

Also again because of the number of attendees there will be an honour jar for 2$ beers.

The doors are set to be open at 5:45 since it was based off our regular times, but I'm trying to get those pushed up to 5 since it's cold and no one wants to be outside. I'll let you know if and hopefully when I can get that changed.
