This meetup is for young families (late 20s and 30s) with kids of any age or are expecting a child soon. For members who live anywhere in Melbourne inner east or Bayside. Formal and informal meetups will be arranges that include trips to parks, beaches, the zoo, play centres, Sunday afteernoons BBQs, pub lunches etc. Most meetups will be over weekends. We are hoping to have dads, moms, and kids meetup. As things progress, perhaps we can do short weekends away and camping trips together. More importantly, hopefully the groups can foster good relationships beyong kids and we can have some 'parent's time out' meet ups.
The idea is to keep the group small and manageable. The key is not to have a huge group or high turnover but to make long lasting friendships.
Background of the start up : We recently moved to Carnegie in Melbourne's East and realized that our daughter who is a year and half needed to have some friends to play with. I work during the weekd and find it hard to take her to mum's groups during the week. My husband and I decided that we should socialize with young families that share our circumstances. I looked around and on Meetup and realized most groups are either for mum's only or are for kid's only and decided to start this one with the aim of attracting young families to socialize together.
