Hiking in Seminole State Forest

Let's go hiking again!

From the website: Seminole State Forest is one of many public properties in the scenic Wekiva River Basin. The forest was purchased by the State of Florida's Conservation and Recreation Lands (CARL) program.

Since 1990, Seminole State Forest has been managed by the Florida Forest Service, with the goal of protecting and maintaining the native biological diversity of the many ecosystems that comprise the state forest, while integrating public use of the resources. Multiple-use management promotes recreation, timber, wildlife, endangered species, environmental education and many other values that benefit Florida's citizens and visitors.

The first entrance is located off of SR 46 approximately 14 miles west of the town of Sanford. Parking areas, entrance gates and trailheads are located at the second entrance which is located west of the Wekiva River on SR 44 in Cassia, approximately 12 miles east of the town of Eustis.

Update: We will be meeting at the North Entrance: from I-4 exit 51, go west on State Road 46 for about 7.7 miles. Turn right onto County Road 46A and drive for about 5.6 miles until you reach State Road 44. Turn right on State Road 44 and go for another 4.9 miles. Park entrance will be on your right.

What to bring: Water, sunblock, bug spray, good shoes, snacks or lunch.
