Zappers London, UK - Software Testing Community Meetup

Zappers is a meet up where testers, both experts and amateurs come together to make connections, compete and of course, enjoy themselves. At the event we will have numerous teams, each testing various online and offline applications. In a limited period of time, teams look to beat the clock and log as many bugs as they can, competing for a cash prize. All of this accompanied by a buffet and post-work beer, promises to be a great evening. Register on meetup.com today for your free place.

It was really fun to participate and to be part of a new team :)

I hope we will have some return of the website we tested especially for the percent character. I'm still asking myself if it's a (weird) choice or not ...and the developers can say how criticize it could be.

Lionel I think you raise a good point about working in new teams. This was my main learning I guess. How well I pair with someone totally new to me.

Also it's not really percent that's the issue but apostrophes. The viewers/?prizeid= URL is vuln give it a check

what would be good is another run at the site once issues are deemed fixed.

It was good to meet u..nd u did raise some valid points on that not all defects can be reproducible:-)

While I like the idea of a "bug bash" I'm not really sure on the true value for the customer (SH) and also to me due to the imposed time constraints. So at the bash myself and some others picked up on the security side (well done to team who lent me power supply - wish we had more time to chat)
however none of us had time really debug the code needed to come up with a working POC. So we all had guesses and assumed there was an issue, however none were 100% sure. On train home I spotted the unsanitised JSON in https://sitename_here/ajaxHelper...
and came up with this (login on viewer and enter </p></div></li><script>alert(/Zappers/)</script> into comment.
It's easy to weaponise and steal cookies but is beyond this reply.

Other points I would raise are that I have a real issue on any kind of measurement by bug count. People will just focus on low hanging fruit which will result in lots of P5 issues while the above P1 was not detected until after Zappers.

You do raise some fair points, but I think there is value in 'quickly' getting the opinion of 50+ people about a site and find out what works and what does not.

Testing should be a full-time job and integrated throughout the software life-cycle and not just at the end when the developers are happy with the code.

Also please can you get admins to remove my comments from SH as the one with the H1 tag breaks the site layout

Now that I know much about testing, it will be nice to put my hands into it with more confidence :)

Testing more than anything, rewards people who are not afraid to jump in the deep end :) It's a good time to be in testing - especially as now perception of the testing world has improved loads the last couple of years.

Nice idea - even for the more "seasoned" of us:) Even though at management level for many years, I always try to keep up to speed with techniques and new challenges presented by the exciting movements in the development world. Will be interesting to see how people respond to a challenge, where the quantity of bugs found determines winner.
