Two - Lake Hike: Obersee to Klontalersee

UPDATE: Your prays have been heard... excellent weather forecasted! Take you bathing suite with you as there might be the possibility to take a dip into the Klontalersee! Since there was no space on the proposed train, we just take the next one, which is actually a bit faster anyway. It also has the benefit that we sleep in a bit more in the morning :) So lets meet between 9:15 and 9:30, the time we leave to the train. If you don't catch us on the meeting point, go directly to the train that goes to Glarus. The new train schedule is as follows: Zürich HB ab 09:40 Näfels-Mollis an 10:29 Näfels-Mollis ab 10:35 Obersee an 10:45 Everything else remains the same. I bought enough group tickets for everyone who wishes to have one. So, everything is set! See you on Sunday! Sven Hi everyone, This is the hike I had to cancel last Sunday. Hope the weather this coming Sunday is better. It goes from Obersee to Klontalersee, two really nice and hidden lakes in Glarus. For those who remember a hike organized by Dweep in 2007, we hiked up from Glarus to Klontalersee on a beautiful Fall day. Anyway, here goes the some key info of the hike: Duration: 5 hours Up: 850m Down: 850m Level: the website
Wandersite says that this hike can be done with kids, but given the duration and the altitude gained, I would say that these must be swiss kids. I would qualify it more advanced medium as this is the upper limit on my hiking criteria. By the way, we will take the easier path as described on the link above. The transportation schedule is as follows: Zürich HB ab 09:12 Ziegelbrücke an 09:57 Ziegelbrücke ab 10:05 Näfels-Mollis an 10:10 Näfels-Mollis ab XX:XX tbd Obersee an XX:XX tbd Return from Klontalersee Vorauen, time to be determined, but a possibility might be: Klöntal, Vorauen ab 17:39 Glarus, Bahnhof an 18:10 Glarus ab 18:19 Zürich HB an 19:20 3 Duration: 1:41hrs. If you miss us on the meeting point, please go directly to the train and catch us there. If you don't find us, give me a call - please don't sent SMS "W r u?" as I am very slow in typing back a whole explanation on where we are - a call is quicker. To bring along: - Water (min. 1 Liter) - Food (Cookies, Snacks, Sandwiches, Grilled Chicken, etc) - Sun and Rain protection (creme, glasses, jackets) - Extra clothes (after the hike), we might even have time for a swim. - Steady shoes (sneakers - or in UK english "trainers", are on your own judgement) Just to have a good size of a group, I limit the people to 25. If you want to come anyway, please call me. Grouptickets I will buy Group tickets, hence, when signing up, please let me know if you want to be included and if you have a Halbtax, GA, or "none". It is usually a good idea to be in the groupticket as everyone gets 20% discount plus a reserved seat on train, but it can only consider those that stick with the group from and back to Zürich). Note that those with GA adds to the number of the group to meet the minimum required number to be a group. I hold the right to cancel the trip due to weather or illness reasons. I'll do my best to let you know as soon as possible. Please look into the website and email for any changes before you head to the meeting point, or at least the night before the event. Disclaimer: the hike is on your own risk and judgement. The organizer holds no responsibility on any injuries or death that might result directly or indirectly from this event. The organizer does not warrant on the accuracy of the description of the hike. It is your responsibility to assess your condition for this hike. Ok, that said, lets go out into the Swiss Alps and enjoy the mountains! Hope to see you then! Sven

Superb Hike! The weather has been traded for the public transportation schedule efficiency....just like the waffle with the carrots. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

Thanks for a perfect day Sven... despite the crazy train start! Sorry we left before the rest of the group arrived. We decided to catch the earlier Postbus while we could. The scenery today was stunning... a really wonderful hike@

Hi Sven, would there be an option to return to Zurich a bit earlier? We need to be back by 7pm. So if there is a connection leaving approx 60 minutes earlier would be ideal. Thanks! Evelyn
