Trail Run (25km 720m elevation gain)

Please note, this is a run not a hike!

The plan is to run from Dielsdorf to Brugg along Stage 1 of the Jura Crest Trail.

The run gains around 400m pretty quickly in the first 5km we stay high for a few kms before dropping around 500m at around the 13km mark. A quick uphill gaining 200m and then it's all downhill to Brugg. 

For those that have the appropriate technology, i have the gpx file of the route which i can email to you to avoid people getting lost once we separate due to different running speeds.


Plan is to take the 8:37am train from Zurich HB arriving at Dielsdorf at 9:00am. We meet under the angel at 8:20am and move to the train shortly after, tickets in hand.

Plan to finish the run at around 2.5-3 hours, hopefully!

Essential equipment to bring with you: 

• Trail running shoes 

• Backpack

• Mobile / cell-phone (switched on at all times) 

• Insulation blanket (it can be very cold if you get wet and have to stop due to injury)

• Water-proof jacket in case it rains

• A warm long sleeved layer in case it gets cold

• Water and nutrition (gels, bars, etc) to keep you going for 4-5 hours running (includes safety margin in case of delays)

If weather looks horrible i may cancel the event. It´s no fun running in the rain!!

I hope to organize more of these runs over the next few months in preparation for some summer running i have planned. Please let me know if you are interested in these kind of activities in the future and i would be very pleased to hear of suggestions for routes. If you have a run/route you particularly like the look of with hopefully a gpx file that i can upload please let me know.

    Thanks for organising Tom. Great warm up for the Uetiburg tomorrow, we will have to do the full route when we have a few more miles in the legs. Hope your knee is doing better than your rugby team!

    Hey Tom, since there is a possibility for really good skiing this weekend I am gonna have to change my status to "Maybe". I will decide around Thursday. I hope this is OK - at this time of the year skiing has highest priority :-)

      Google "helsana trails". There are 3 areas in around Zurich that have trail runs around 5-10km. I'll add you to the sign up list later in the year?
