Announcing a new Meetup for Zurich Hike & Outdoor!
What: Swiss National Park
When: Saturday, July 17,[masked]:30 AM
I propose to do a hike in the Swiss National Park. We would take the train to Zernez, departing 08.02 am-> arriving 9.12 am Landquart; departing Landquart 9.20 am and arriving 10.30 am in Zernez.
We would be staying overnight in Chamanna Cluoazza (obviously people can also join us and return in the evening back to Zurich). I have made a booking for 20 persons. There is only 1 room for 4 persons, otherwise it is a "matrassenlager" for 16 other persons. Since there are only two hotels/cabins in the Swiss National Park obviously they are pretty much booked out and I couldn't reserve more than 20 spots.
I just made the reservation and have not gotten exact confirmed prices however prices must be 37chf for overnight stay and 68 for overnight stay+ halfpension (i.e. evening dinner).
Upon arrival at Zernez by train we need to walk approx. 3 hours to the Chamanna Cluoazza cabin in the middle of National Park. I suggest we have a picknick here (so please bring lunch/snack along) and then later in the afternoon we will need to decide (depending on the whether) whether we do
a) a hike to Ofenpass (approx. 3 hours going up ) on saturday afternoon and the next day a 6 hour hike to Hut Varusch via Furocla Val Sassa (2850 meters) and return to Zurich via S-chanf or
b) a hike in the direction of Hut Varusch via Furocla Val Sassa (2850 meters) on saturday afternoon and then on sunday the hike to Ofenpass and then from there take bus back to Zernez.
In order to avoid that people say yes and then do not show up, I will therefor ask you to transfer 40 swiss francs to my bank account (for details see correspondence on the Zermatt hike activity).
The idea would be to take a train back sunday late afternoon arriving somewhere around 7.30/8pm in Zurich.
You need to bring along:
*snacks/lunch for at least 1 day;
* sturdy shoes with good grip ( please note that if we do the 6 hour walk- which is done by families with children (the hike is marked blue/white and not red/white)- there might still be some snow;
