Meetup Description: This is not part of the route 5 Jura Ridgeway and is an additional hike in the Jura region that I came across whilst planning for route 5. It should be a fairly relaxed amble down from the top of the Weissenstein to Solothurn.

Distance - approx 15km
Total walking time -approx 5 hours (not allowing for breaks and subject to change due to the pace of the group)
Ascent - approx 150m
Descent - approx 850m

Brief Description
From Oberdorf station we take the rather quaint old fashioned wooden chairlift up to the Weissenstein. From the top of the Weissenstein we descend down to Nesselboden where we pick up a small detour to visit the Saurierspuren/dinosaur footprints. We then return to the main path and continue with the descent down to Einsedlei where we can stop to admire the church built into the side of the rock. The route then follows the river to Wengistein and then onto Solothurn Bahnhof where we finsih

For any further information, or for any late comers on the day please don't hesitate to call me at[masked] 43.

Tickets - I have a GA so I do not need to purchase a ticket however for those who need to purchase tickets on the day, I believe there is a cheaper group option though I am not sure on the details of how many people are needed to qualify for a group discount. Maybe someone can enlighten me! For the moment I would advise that if we arrive at the meeting point on time then this should allow for us to sort it out then. For further hikes I'm sure we can plan ahead much better!! Apologies for my ignorance on the matter!

Recommended to bring along:
- sun/wind/rain protection (wind jacket, sun cream, glasses, hat etc)
- hiking boots recommended
- lunch (sandwich, chocolate etc.)
- water (at least 1 litre )
- basic first aid kit (I will be carrying one but it is always useful to have extra)
- maps of the area are also useful to bring if you have them
- camera
- a cheerful disposition and plenty of enthusiasm!

Disclaimer and small print

I reserve the right to cancel the hike at anytime if weather conditions or any other factors that may affect the safety of the group arise:

- be it before the event
- on the day of the event before the agreed start time
- or during the hike itself

In the event of a cancellation I will try to give as much notice as I can but please check the site the morning of the hike BEFORE you leave home. Weather conditions can change quickly and the decision to cancel may be sudden.

Everyone who takes part in the hike does so at their own risk

Each participant is responsible to ensure they have adequate health insurance and any other insurances that may be required

Whilst all care will be taken to keep the group together it may at times become necessary to split up due to pace, safety, or if someone needs to retire from the hike due to medical reasons.

OK so thats all the information, lets get hiking! I look forward to seeing you for a more relaxed hike than those on the route 5! :)
