Announcing a new Meetup for Zurich Hike & Outdoor!
What: zermatt summer hiking
When: Saturday, June 19,[masked]:45 AM
After the ski season ends I suggest to go hiking in and around Zermatt. We take the 8 am train and get there around 11 am, start hiking in the afternoon as well as the next day before we return to Zurich.
Chalet Morgenrot (for details see www.chalet-pergola-zermatt.ch) has 44 beds, ranging from double beds to beds with 9 or 10 people, and lays at 1750 meters, approx. 20 to 30 minutes walking. In the prospect it says " in the summer it can be reached by electro-taxi".
The price per night is 25 swiss francs(!) which seems to be a good deal considering the location.
The chalet offers beds however everyone needs to bring their own sleeping bag "schlafsack" and no food (breakfast and/or dinner is provided)- cooking needs to be done there, we go for a restaurant nearby or we hunt our own food ))-- whatever people prefer. We can also organize some party here, if some good DJ's come along.
The lady owning/renting out the place told me that they are pretty much full till the end of April however for the summer they still have plenty of free spaces) at this point in time. As you know such places gets rapidly booked since in the summer all kind of groups like to go to huts, so as such I would like to secure the hut. If we are more than 30 people, she would even give us a flat price of 600 swiss francs a day.
Assuming that I need to make a deposit to guarantee the reservation, could I please ask each of you who are interested to confirm by FEBRUARY 15, 2010. Of course I understand that June is still far away, however if we do not make an advance booking and wait till april to make a booking for june/july then again the chalet will be booked out.
I plan return to zurich somewhere around 3 or 4 pm so that at least we can do another hike, mountain bike tour on sunday.
