Ann Arbor New Tech May Meetup / Town Hall Meeting with Rick Snyder

  • May 19, 2009 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

We have a very special meetup this month - following our regular program, we'll welcome
Rick Snyder, CEO of Ann Arbor venture capital firm Ardesta and former COO of Gateway Computer, for a town hall session as he considers his gubernatorial bid in Michigan! Leading into the town hall session, we'll have 4 companies take the stage for 10 minutes each, 5 minutes to demo and 5 minutes to answer questions. We'll close the event with any community announcments, and then open networking in the atrium.

We found it most interesting. Really exciting, in fact, to see and learn about local geeks and nerds. Rick Snyder was FAB. He's got my vote already!!!

It was my first A2Geeks event. I liked the format of having four tech groups present for 5-10 minutes and then have 5 minutes of questions. It was also interesting to listen to a budding politician talk about his campaign for governor of Michigan. Thanks to the organizer for arranging for him to talk to the group. Although I was able to connect with the presenter who interested me the most, my one suggestion for improvement is that the networking time could be better structured, perhaps with refreshments (I understand that they're normally provided) or with topical groups or with speed-dating from time to time. I'll be sure to attend more events in the future when the topics match my interests!

It was interesting to see someone putting their toe in the water to run for governor of MiCHIgan and have a chance to ask questions in a casual atmosphere.

I enjoyed seeing the projects people were working on and learning the impact they might have on the world at large.
