vDocker: Using Linux Containers and VMware Together

  • Jul 8, 2014 · 7:00 PM

Tonight I'll be presenting an early version of a talk about using Docker Linux Containers and VMware technologies together. We'll cover when and why you would want to use containers vs a traditional hypervisor like ESXi. Linux containers have some limitations and security concerns that can be addressed with the help of a hypervisor, especially in enterprise environments where Docker is not already an established tool.

The presentation was very good and on point. Chris did take time to explain the broader topic of Container vs Hypervisor for the audience that ranged from Core techies to folks like me who are more on the applications side (away from Infrastructure ;) )

Looking forward to this presentation as I've just completed a release using Ubuntu 14.04 lxc containers and CFEngine. I am greatly interested in this discussion regarding additional security considerations as I would like to expand this offering into additional domains.
