Please describe the dog(s) you own: name, breed, age, sex, etc... so we can get to know a little more about our new pack member(s)!

My newest hiking partner is Oz the dog, who turned 1 year old in May 2014. He's an outgoing, high-energy cattle dog/boxer/pit mix, a total goofball, and he loves to hike!

What are you looking for in a trail club? Describe what you hope to get out of the group and what can you contribute to the group.

I just want more opportunities to hike with my dog, and to meet other folks with similar interests.

What does your ideal day outdoors involve? Please give the name and location of your favorite local hike or walk and describe the trail for us. Is it rocky, is there much elevation change, does it involve water, etc...

I like hills! 5-10 miles hikes, preferably with plenty of elevation change (and great views). I hike the VA side of Great Falls fairly often, usually the Ridge Trail with beautiful views of Mather Gorge, and I love many of the trails on Catoctin Mountain. Another favorite is the hike to Maryland Heights at Harpers Ferry - steep, but you're rewarded with amazing views at the top.

Have you and your dog(s) earned any titles or are you working towards any titles? Agility, Canine Good Citizen (CGC), working dog, pack dog, water dog, therapy dog, etc... ???

He's still a pup, so we're working on basic commands. He passed his puppy kindergarten obedience class with flying colors, though! He loves all people and other dogs and will do almost anything for a cookie.

Hi, I'm TJ! I've been an avid hiker for many years. My family moved to NoVA from Southern California in 2011 and we recently adopted a big goofy pup that needs lots of exercise.
