Plans for Pups, LLC (PfP)

Events & Travel:
Plans for Pups (PfP) is an online magazine dedicated to the promotion and review of select dog-related activities and events in and around the greater New York City. PfP also reviews dog-friendly vacation spots.

News:
PfP follows select pet-related media stories providing updates long after these stories are no longer in mainstream news. PfP provides more than a media bite. We tell the entire story from start to finish.

PfP is interested in the activities and organization of the animal shelter industry.

PfP believes that only through a concerted effort of many animal rescue organizations, both those privately and publicly funded, will a solution to the pet over population problem in the NYC geographic area be solved.

Spay & Neuter Programs successful! Overpopulation Problem Solved!
The good news is that due to successful spay and neuter programs, the overpopulation problem of small dogs in the greater NYC area has been resolved!

Some Rescue Organizations actually IMPORT Dogs into the NYC Region!
Small dogs are now being imported into the NYC area from the southern U.S. (and even from China) by some "rescue organizations", who, rather than save the lives of local dogs in need, prefer to sell (through adoption fees of up to $300) small pure-breed puppies. (Selling dogs is profitable. Executives of these "rescue organizations" earn salaries in excess of $100,000 a year.)

These types of rescue organizations may actually contribute to the NYC regions over population problem because, although they import dogs into the area, they do not practice a "right of return" for dogs they adopt out. In other words, the puppy they sell today will not be accepted back into their organization in a year when it is no longer small and cute and has become an unwanted adult dog that weighs in excess of 50 pounds. That dog ends up at Animal Care & Control (AC&C), the shelter contracted by the City of New York to deal with the region's pet overpopulation problem. Once at AC&C, the odds are very good that this dog will be euthanized.

PfP is interested in the inner workings of the various NYC area rescue organizations and shelters and realizes there is a difference between those that really rescue dogs and those that use puppy sales and donations to pad their executives paychecks!
