Software Developer (Agile)
A software developer at McClatchy Interactive designs, implements, and maintains code for the company's proprietary content management system and other, supplemental applications and infrastructure that power the McClatchy Company's numerous Web sites.

Developers work closely with colleagues, the immediate development team and the systems architect, the department head, product managers, and others to define deliverables, divide and conquer assignments, design solutions, and write code. Developers also work closely with technical writers to assure product documentation is complete and accurate.

The ideal candidate for the position is an expert in one or more of the following: Object-oriented Perl; Ruby on Rails; Object-oriented PHP; MySQL; Apache. The ideal candidate has at least four-six years in Web development, and at least two years in an area of specialization.

Major Responsibilities/Activities

* Object-oriented design and development.
* SQL database design and development.
* Web interface development in (template-driven) HTML and JavaScript.
* Design and development of unit test modules.
* Peer code reviews.
* Creation of documentation for both developer and end-user consumption.
* Providing training to other developers and customer service personnel.
* After hours availability for emergency issues.

Technical Writer (Agile/works with Agile team)
A technical writer at McClatchy Interactive researches, designs, creates, edits, updates and manages technical documentation for software products. The technical writer will solicit input from subject matter experts throughout the company as well as reviewing design documentation and reference hands-on experience using the software products. The technical writer is responsible for producing and updating software user documentation including release notes, online help text, technical manuals and reference materials. The technical writer is also responsible for internal technical documentation as required for each product and in support of efficient development processes. Reporting to the department manager, the technical writer must be passionate about empowering our user base through timely, accurate product information as well as learning and documenting new technologies.

Analytics Engineer
The Analytics Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining the codebase supporting our web analytics systems. This includes devising new tracking methods, enabling back-end tools, and troubleshooting data integrity issues as our business needs dictate.

Online Ad Trafficker
The online advertising traffic coordinator is responsible for the daily placement and management of online advertising campaigns placed on McClatchy Interactive’s customer Web sites, and on The McClatchy Company’s newspaper Web sites.

Sales Support Coordinator
The Sales Support Coordinator will maintain and support online ad fulfillment for the sales staff at the McClatchy newspapers. They are the liaison between the sales representatives at the local newspapers and the advertising traffic staff at McClatchy Interactive.

Member Services Support Representative
McClatchy Interactive is in search of Member Services Representative(s) who have experience with Customer Service Call Centers and ecommerce applications to join our team at our Raleigh facility. They will assist with routine and some out of the ordinary customer queries. They will track each record and follow through on customer inquires which require additional investigation in a timely manner. Work with limited daily supervision, referring unusual problems to a senior customer support representative or a direct supervisor. They will have daily routines which require good judgment and will follow documented processes for managing various customer scenarios. This person should be able to work in changing and sometimes stressful conditions. Typically, applicant has three or more years experience in customer support.
