Have you been to Chinatown to eat before? What are your thoughts of Chinatown? If you've been, which restaurants have you been to and what are your favorite dishes?

I've been intimidated by Chinatown. I'm hoping this group will help me change that.

Is there a particular restaurant that you've been wanting to try in Chinatown but never have? Generally, what are your favorite foods?

No particular restaurant. I just want to try new things. Im stumped for a favorite. I'm crazy about sushi and sashimi. I don't like bell peppers. I've been trying Mediterranean and Indian restaurants lately.

As we are looking for the adventurous and those willing to try anything once tell us what is the strangest thing you've ever ate.

Haha. These things don't seem strange any more, but my students always get a kick when I list the "weird" things I've eaten, such as octopus, eel, shark, conch, deer, rabbit, etc. Probably my strangest experience was in a Chinese restaurant in Cambodia, where I ordered chicken from the menu, and got, what seemed to be, half a bisected bird that had been boiled, then submersed in ice water, and laid on a plate. Which makes my most adventurous experience, uh, cold chicken.

Would you consider yourself a lover of Asian food? If so, what country's cuisine do you love the most and why?

Yes, I do enjoy Asian foods. Chinese is probably the favorite, because so much of my comfort food choices come from this category. But, I also love miso and udon and sashimi. And, the lemongrass, peanut, coconut flavors in Thai dishes. Plus, anything with ginger is simply divine.

What's the main reason you wish to join this group and what would you like to gain from this group that will make your time worth while?

Hmmm. I've always wanted to explore Chinatown. I love learning new things. I'd like to meet more people with a similar curiosity about the world.

Hi, I'm Renee. This is a fabulous idea for a Meet Up group! I can't wait to learn more about Chinatown and meet new people.
