Seattle Renewable Energy Meetup gatherings are varied in content. Yet we've consistently shared our visions and creative ideas for sustainable energy solutions. We've imagined a future where solar is the norm, micro-hydro is useful in and out of the city, and Washington's utilities easily achieve I-937's renewable energy mandates, as voted in by citizens. Yes - citizens, not consumers.
Thursday July 22 we've invited Jeremy Smithson and Pam Burton of Puget Sound Solar
to share some of their views on renewable energy advocacy, land use and solar, and solar metrics.
Solar metrics? With any quantities, when measuring the amount of solar assist in the heating of hot water, or creating electricity for powering your home or building we also need to measure and report the contribution of passive solar to the mix. The solar slice-of-the-pie-chart just got supersized. Let's change the conversation and tell the story from our point of view.
I'm hoping that Jeremy will also bring his excel spread sheet with all the energy bills in legislation that he tracks, both locally and nationally. Good stuff for advocates.
See you soon for conversation, awareness, action and some cold herbal tea.
