Hajimemashou! :o) EVENTS: I was at the stretch class last Tuesday and we had a blast, as always! These exercises require focused breathing and I have noticed that concentrating on my breathing helps me perform a better stretch. These teachers love to pull on your arms and legs when you are in 4th position and turn you into a human pretzel while yelling out words of encouragement in Japanese....ah, bliss :) If nothing else, I am getting more limber (and learning to use emotion to speak Japanese, rather than my head.)
FACEBOOK POSTING: Claire put an AWESOME post on our Facebook page last week. She is a translator and her keigo was heaven :) Heaven! I got so jealous of her wonderful Japanese that I was scarcely able to post a response. She has not joined the actual Meetup group as of yet but you can see her post on Facebook. I had to whip out the dictionary multiple times to read her kanji and that is a good thing! The more time spent floating in Japanese, the better! And everybody, please post more. I know it can be a pain to stop whatever you are doing and make a post but it is crucial if you want to acquire the language.
I am quite excited about our event next Friday! We already have multiple DVDs that we will be showing and after a few hours (and a few drinks), speaking in Japanese will feel naturally to you and you won't want to go back to English. If you were curious, my place is located on the 67th Avenue subway stop (M/R trains) I am a 4 minute walk from the subway. As always, keep studying, keep practicing and have a great day!
Japanese Language 24/7 Policy: Inactive (non-participating) members will be gently deleted from our roster on a daily basis. The definition of "inactive" is a member who does not post on Facebook or RSVP for events for 30 consecutive days. To be considered Active and to avoid being gently deleted, come to at least 1 Meetup event a month OR post at least 1 Facebook post a month. Thank you. And I am always available for any questions or help that you want (as I am also a part-time Japanese instructor for Beginners.) If you want or need help, please ask. We are all here to learn WITHOUT judgment or trolling. The only bad Japanese that will get you booted from this group is NO Japanese! And being a no-show at an event would get you booted as well.
