Harnessing Kafka for payment processing at massive scale w/ Joe Nash, Improbable

Details
Join us on Thursday 25th 2016 August for an interactive session with special guest Joe Nash, Developer Advocate at Improbable.
Joe's background
Joe Nash began his journey into Developer Relations whilst studying Computer Science at Nottingham University, where he founded HackNotts and joined the Twilio Heroes programme. During this time, Joe played a key role in founding the wider hacker community across the UK and EU.
Joe has worked at PayPal as a Developer Advocate, helping affirm their place in the UK's wider tech community by working closely with developers and startups to implement the best payment processing solution for them. Eventually, he moved on to join the Developer Relations team at Improbable, who build SpatialOS - a developer tool focused around building entire simulated worlds - they recently ran a live simulation of the entire internet.
In this meetup, Joe will talk about harnessing Kafka, an Apache technology originally created at LinkedIn, to create a real time data pipeline capable of handling massive scale. We will look at how Braintree used Kafka, in conjunction with Clojure, to help process payments for some of the largest companies in the world.
As always, there will be plenty of opportunities for networking with like-minded people - and plenty of free pizza and beers!
The event will run as below...
18.00 Doors open
18.30 Welcome to ANDchat - Nick Russell, ANDigital
18.45 Interactive session – Joe Nash, Improbable
19.30 Informal networking
20.30 Close
We look forward to seeing you then!
