March: Android Experiments & AutoValue Extensions

Details

For March, we're partnering up with the team at Google to showcase the cool stuff on Android Experiments (https://www.androidexperiments.com/). We'll also have a talk from Jake who's in town!

Check-ins open 6:30pm, close 7:30pm.

Talks:

>> Android Experiments - Roman Nurik & Anthony Tripaldi, John Watkinson
Android Experiments is a showcase of inspiring Android projects, from creative uses of the camera to beautiful 3D visualizations to hardware hacks and beyond.

Anthony and Roman from Google will dive into the details of some of the experiments they've worked on and what they're excited for in the next generation of experiments from the community.

John's talk "Physically-Modeled User Interfaces" will be about using physical simulations to achieve satisfying and intuitive animation.

>> AutoValue Extensions - Jake Wharton
Google's AutoValue library provides easy value types in Java through code generation and its forthcoming release has a powerful new feature: extensions. This talk will introduce the extensions feature, cover useful extensions for Android, and offer tips for building your own.

>> Sam Hill of touchlab will talk about a to-be-released Android Experiment in conjunction with Droga5 for Android™.

We expect this event to fill up quickly so only RSVP if you can make it. We're hoping to record talks for people who can't get in. Follow us on Twitter (https://twitter.com/NYAndroidMeetup) for updates.

Many thanks to Shayan for coordinating, and the Google team for food, check-in help & a great venue.

P.S. GDG Newark's meetup (http://bit.ly/gdgnewark229) about Realm is happening Monday 2/29.
