Motion Sensors and orientation in Android

All leading smart phone manufacturers are now bundling accelerometers. Application's can now not only monitor screen orientation but also become spatially aware.

Learn how to interpret the sometimes confusing results from Android's sensor output accompanied by the reasoning and terminology behind orientation output generated by Android's sensor events.

Content Providers as a client contained REST service

Sharing data between applications is at the heart of the Android platform. Content Provider's allow installed applications to expose their data to one another via a public interface. The intention is then that installed activities can benefit from one another regardless of origin. Carl will present a technical introduction to the interface and compare it to the online paradigm: a REST interface.
