Dear Avi,

Happy New Year! With this newsletter, I'd like to highlight Albert, another of our Kickstart users. Albert had a stroke over a decade ago and has worked extremely hard to recover. It took him two years to learn how to speak. It took him five years to learn to use his arm again. But despite a lot of hard work, walking proved elusive and he was forced to rely on a power wheelchair for mobility. Like many stroke survivors, Albert has foot drop and uses an Ankle-Foot-Orthosis to keep his toes up and prevent tripping. However, like many stroke survivors, Albert also has hip flexion weakness which prevents him from lifting his leg off of the ground. AFOs cannot help with hip flexion weakness, and since Albert could not lift his leg he really couldn't walk much. Only Kickstart is designed to assist hip flexion weakness to help you lift your entire leg off of the ground, and now that Albert has his Kickstart he is walking 4-6 hours per day and sometimes more. After a decade of sitting in a power chair, it only took him about a day with Kickstart to start walking for hours at a time. Kickstart is helping Albert leave his wheelchair behind.

Also, while folks in the Bay Area may have seen Kickstart featured on ABC-7 San Francisco last month, folks in the rest of the country likely have not. You can watch the story featuring Kickstart users Ron and Eric here.

Remember, we are continuing to offer a 30-day trial for all patients for the rest of this month only (no payment is required until you decide to keep Kickstart after the end of the trial), so please contact us if you feel you might be a good candidate and we can walk you through the process of getting your own Kickstart Walking System so you can retrain walking and rediscover life. Also, we will begin hosting evaluation clinics later this month where you can visit a clinic and give Kickstart a try and feel how it works for yourself. Stay tuned for dates and locations.
