Salvation For Vick's Dogs? (KINSHIP CIRCLE ACTION ALERT)

Hi everyone,

In the aftermath of the Vick cruelty case is now the dilemma of what to do with the dogs who have been confiscated. Unfortunately, due to the abuses they were subjected to, these dogs are not suitable for adoption into regular homes, but there are options besides euthanizing them, which is being discussed by some even though several sanctuaries have expressed an interest in providing homes for some of these dog victims. Please see the bottom of this email for the sample letter provided by Kinship Circle.

Also, on request of Brenda Shoss, the president of Kinship Circle, I'm posting the announcement below regarding spam filters causing dwindling numbers of subscribers to the Kinship Circle email list. If you are affected by this, you may need to re-subscribe. Kinship Circle provides sample letters on many animal issues for activists to use.

Thanks,
Armaiti

PERMISSION TO CROSSPOST

Due to ever increasing spam blockers, Kinship Circle has recently had to
delete ALMOST HALF ITS SUBSCRIBERS. After we post an alert, we receive
hundreds of messages such as:

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----

(reason: 550 209.74.143.13 blocked by ldap:ou=rblmx,dc=comcast,dc=net -> BL003 Blocked for spam.

Kinship Circle ONLY subscribes members who REQUEST subscription. But due to
those who have hit ?junk mail? or placed a block on info@kinshipcircle.org
or kinshipcircle@brick.net -- instead of simply UNSUBSCRIBING FROM THE LIST
-- our email addresses have been blacklisted as spam by most providers.

Kinship Circle?s numbers are rapidly dwindling. And the smaller the circle,
the less impact we have for animals.

Please take a moment to try the following suggestions to help our email
alerts reach you.

If you are subscribed to Kinship Circle but don?t get all our alerts, try:

1. Enter info@kinshipcircle.org and kinshipcricle@brick.net into your address book.
2. Check your ?spam? or ?junk email? folders? to see if Kinship Circle alerts are there.
3. Reset your spam filter to ?put suspect spam into spam filter? instead of ?delete.?
4. Re-subscribe to Kinship Circle under a non-AOL or non-COMCAST email address.
5. Ask your email provider to remove info@kinshipcircle.org and kinshipcircle@brick.net from their ?BLOCK? list.

Chances are about half of Kinship Circle subscribers won?t even get this
alert. It will die a ?spam filter? death. So if you manage an animal
advocacy list that may benefit from this information, please pass this
message along from your email address.

Thank you,
Brenda Shoss, Kinship Circle

Gentlemen,

I thank the U.S. Attorney's Office for its promise to not return about 50
pit bulls seized from Michael Vick's dogfighting compound to a similar
setting.

Now that these unfortunate dogs find themselves "property of the United
States," I respectfully ask the United States to do the right thing. I urge
you weigh expert opinion from ASPCA behavioral specialists in conjunction
with the hands-on experience of Best Friends Animal Society in Utah, Animal
Care Foundation of Hawaii, and Mariah's Promise in Colorado -- at least
three first-rate sanctuaries that have offered to care for some of the dogs.

Diane Jessup, well known author and founder of LawDogsUSA (a program that
trains pit bulls as detection dogs) has also expressed interest in screening
Vick's confiscated dogs for use as narcotics and explosives detection dogs.

There can be salvation for some, if not all of these dogs.

As the animals are evaluated over the next several weeks, I hope you will
consider the trauma they've endured and measure their ability to be
rehabilitated with some lenience. Sadly, millions of animals who need rescue
languish in our nation's shelters everyday. But Vick's dogs have stolen our
hearts and come to represent the worst in human brutality.

Now, the best in human kindness want to rehabilitate these dogs -- not to
adopt them into homes -- but to give them a place to feel safe and loved. I
sincerely hope the U.S. Attorney's Office, and ultimately the U.S. District
Court Judge in Richmond, afford them this chance.

Thank you,
