I'm a devote lapswimmer of many years, and swim regularly at 3 pools around the Bay Area - Temescal, Heather Farms, and GG/UCB. I also hike and would enjoy the opportunity to meet active, athletic people who enjoy outdoors activities incl camping!
I swim 4 days a week, hike regularly 2-3 days a week in the Berkeley and/or Oakland area as well as have a EBMUD pass for hiking. I do yoga, pilates, and light weights for conditioning. I work full time, but often get up early to either swim or hike including weekends. I enjoy my swimming friends and solo hiking, but would enjoy meeting new people who occasionally like hiking or camping with others. At this point, I'm trying to meet people of have a deep appreciation for the outdoors, finding connections with others that love this, and maintaining an active lifestyle. While in college during the summers I worked in two National Parks ~ Yosemite and Yellowstone. As well, my grandmother had a house on the Russian River so summers were about canoes, swimming, hiking. I love city evironments and all these have to offer, however, I think my best vacations have also been connected to the "calm" of the outdoors ~ camping, canoeing on a river, swimming.
I am open, but truthfully, I am happy with swimming, hiking, camping, and non-competitive easy going mountain biking.
Hey! Do you have room in your car? I am in Berkeley
Hey thanks for the swim center info. Perhaps I'll check out the one in El Cerrito at one of the weekends, when I am not in LA. For $6/day, I hope the water is warm enough. I consider swimming my entertainment time :) I wish to learn from other swimmers and instructors also. I have a competitive mind.
Hi Stephanie, Nice talking to you in the restaurant. And I got to talk to you and Alain only by coincidence.
Anyway, I remember you are a good swimmer. Maybe someday I can be as good as you. Can you tell me of a good swimming pool? Which one do you go to? If it is the ocean, that's not for me, hehe.
Hopefully not expensive since I can always go to my YMCA.
I am glad to know a fellow swimmer in the Bay area.
