We are proud to announce the third Apache Meetup NL 2012, this time in Rotterdam on September 6th at 17:30. The topic for this evening session is Modular Java.

The session is organised by Luminis Rotterdam (http://rotterdam.luminis.eu/) and generously hosted at People Make the Difference (http://www.pmtd.nl/) (PMtD). The location is the Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek, Koffie 1.20, Van Nelleweg 1, 3044 BC Rotterdam. Drinks and food will be available, courtesy of Hippo (http://www.onehippo.com/). The location will be able to accommodate a maximum of 30 people, so make sure you sign up to ensure your spot!

As usual for these meet ups, we do not have a fixed agenda for the evening. People are encouraged to contribute whatever questions, talks or discussions and we will finalise the agenda at the meet up. Feel free to propose something beforehand, but you can also do that right here on the meet up site.

One item on the agenda will be a hands-on session about Modular Java that demonstrates how to develop and deploy modular code and why modularity is important for the evolution and maintainability of a codebase, especially in a world where time to market and ever changing requirements are. The session will feature Apache Felix (http://felix.apache.org/), an implementation of the OSGi (http://osgi.org/) specification (the de-facto standard for modularity in Java), Apache ACE (http://ace.apache.org/) for deployment, several components from an Apache licensed open source project called Amdatu (http://amdatu.org/) and an Eclipse plugin called Bndtools (http://bndtools.org/).

Directions to the Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek can be found here:

We're looking forward to meeting you all in Rotterdam on the 6th!
