Moving this meetup to the Second Sunday.

We'll be doing some work on the park then around 7:30 we'll have start the potluck.

So come out for either or both.

We'll be stacking functions by hands-on exploration permaculture while creating a sustainable food forest. The best way to learn permaculture is by doing, not reading.

Our first project will be to clear and dig out a water catchment system. This will allow the massive rain runoff a place to be captured, held and dispersed into the soil.

Currently the runoff shoots down the hillside and into a runoff creek. So much so over the years it's eroded a 50+ foot deep channel into the hillside, eroding the soil away around a number of beautiful and large oak trees. Future saturdays we'll be addressing this problems by creating gabions (leaky check dams) that will, with time, catch soil and fill in the gouge and eroded tree root areas.

Come out as you can, when you can. I like to do the hard work in the AM when it's cool(er). But would like to get feedback from you guys about best time of day for most. Future meetups can be later in the day followed by potluck and movie nights.

Bring:

Gloves and shovels if you have them.

Water bottle/cups.

A desire to experience permaculture and make Austin just a little bit better.

A covered dish for the potluck.

Hope to see you guys there.
