It's one of the original Olympic sports - and great for building mental focus, perseverance, confidence, patience and, of course, upper body strength!

YOU SUPPORT OUR JUNIOR OLYMPIC PROGRAM: These adult archery meetups support our Junior Olympic Archery Development Program (JOAD) for kids 8-18...so as you train, your fees will also help get our JOAD kids to the national tournaments and even to the Olympic Training Center ! It's a good thing!

YOU CAN JOIN ANY WEEK ! You don't need any experience to join - and you can start whenever you want. Both recurves and compounds, ages 18-80, newbies to experienced archers are welcome. We provide basic recurve bows, armguards, finger tabs and arrows - or you can use your own equipment (provided it's safe to shoot). We coach beginners to nationally competitive archers.

STEP 1: REGISTER FOR YOUR FIRST LESSON by going to http://www.aajoad.com, click the "Register" button under the photo, scroll down, fill in the fields for the NEXT AVAILABLE SATURDAY Indoor 1: First-time class. Fee: $20 one-time fee.
Bring a friend! It's more fun, if you bring a friend to learn and shoot with you! You don't need any experience to take the first-time class, but we do need to know that everyone is a safe archer and at least knows the basics of how to shoot, so everyone needs to register for this class first. Newbies will shoot at 9 m, and experienced archers will shoot at 18 m. If you've already been to one of our meetups, you can go ahead and RSVP "Yes" to a meetup below. (We accept checks only.)

STEP 2: BECOME A MEMBER OF AUSTIN TARGET ARCHERS
Join us as a member on this website after your first-time class.

STEP 3: RSVP TO YOUR FIRST SUNDAY MEETUP by RSVP'ing "Yes" to a meetup below.

STEP 4: COME TO THE ADULT ARCHERY MEETUPS on SUNDAYS: 5:00-6:30: Fee: $18/meetup.

WHO WE ARE / WHAT TO EXPECT:
We have year-around indoor and outdoor adult meetups in Olympic target archery (not 3-D, field archery, or bowhunting)
We are a target archery training center, so your time in the range will be under instruction in fun, structured, progressive sessions.
If you want to learn how to shoot or how to shoot better, then you've found the right place.
Our main aim is to help you become the best target archer you can be!
We've been coaching archery for 15 years and are USA Archery-certified coaches and instructors.

Please note: We're NOT an archery range where you pay per hour just to shoot.

BRING A FRIEND:
You can always bring a friend or introduce another person to archery; your friend(s) needs to take a first-time Saturday class, become a member, and then RSVP "Yes" to a meetup.

RANGE:
Please note you can only shoot at pre-arranged times, and a USA Archery-certified instructor or coach must be present in the range or on the field at all times.

FEES:
$20 for the first-time two-hour Saturday class (one-time expense).
$18 per person is due at the beginning of each weekly 90-minute Sunday meetup.
We only take checks.

EQUIPMENT: Basic recurve bows, finger tabs, armguards and arrows are provided - or you can bring your own bow.

COACHING:
USA Archery Regional Coach / Jr. Dream Team Coach / UT Archery Coach Alex Meyer will often coach the adult meetups, except when he is coaching at the Olympic Training Center in California or Colorado, or at archery tournaments. On those days, another certified instructor will be in the range to help you.
