Update for the
BaltimoreWashington Power Team
Annual Basket Brigade
This Saturday!! -- November 20, 2010

Reminder of location: East County Community Center
3310 Gateshead Manor Way
Silver Spring, MD 20904

Agenda/Times: 10:00 am help unload trucks
11:00 am meet & greet
11:15 am begin assembly
12:30 pm finish assembly of baskets and regroup
1/1:30 pm deliver baskets (this could take a couple of hours depending on the # of drivers)

We plan to give out 150 baskets this year. These baskets can change a family?s life and Thanksgiving experience. In the words of Mother Teresa, ?If you can?t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.? This we will do!

DELIVERY OF INDIVIDUAL BASKETS: This is an incredible experience to see the astonishment and joy on the faces of families receiving these baskets. We encourage anyone who wants to participate in this aspect of our brigade by delivering a basket to please contact Martha Hopkins @ [address removed] or Dave Elliott @ [address removed] as soon as possible so we can make sure we have ample supply of baskets to individually deliver.

FOOD: We may need some help with the pick up & delivery to the Community Center of food items for the baskets early Saturday morning. If you have an SUV or pickup truck and would be willing to help, again please contract Martha Hopkins [address removed] or 410/[masked] by NOON Friday so she can give you the logistics on the pick up. We purchase the food items from the Safeway and Costco at Arundel Mills, Hanover, MD.

TO EVERY ONE OF YOU ? This amazing program is a reality because of each of you. In some way, even through intention, you have contributed to giving a struggling family hope for a better future and a knowing that people do care about them. What a gift to give this Thanksgiving. You will feel the joy of giving in your heart as you enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Thank each and every one of you!!! And Blessings to ALL.

NOTE - We will build in some social time in the morning to catch up and focus on the task ahead as we prepare to get started. If you'd like to bring some type of light breakfast food to share with your fellow volunteers like bagels, cream cheese, a fruit tray, juices, pastries, teas, etc., please feel free to do so. We will provide coffee, hot cocoa and some food items but all money we raise goes directly to the baskets themselves so we count on your generosity and gratitude to provide additional nourishment to those who give of their time and talents to serve others. Thanks!

See you Saturday -- Martha (and Dave)

We still need your help!
It's not too late to donate to make a difference!

We will be doing more baskets around Christmas and plan to do Backpacks for the Homeless in the coming months so your donations are always much appreciated ? and critical. If you'd like to contribute, please bring your cash or check on Saturday ? or to any BWPT meeting.

Make checks payable to: Baltimore/Washington PowerTeam
Mail donations to: Dave Elliott, 9 Heavrin Court, Baltimore, MD 21236

Thanksgiving Day Update
Join us on Thursday, November 25th to serve!

For the last 4 years, we've joined up with fellow PowerTeamer, Bobby Babcock and his family to serve dinner on Thanksgiving Day at a church in downtown Baltimore. Once you make this event part of your Thanksgiving tradition, you won't want to spend your day any other way. And you'll still be done early enough to enjoy your own Thanksgiving plans with loved ones!

St. Peter Claver Church
1526 N. Fremont Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21217

Cooked turkeys and dessert dishes always welcome!

Food prep starts early AM...Church service begins at 8am upstairs (if you wish to attend)...Decorating hall after church...serving food from 11am - 3 or 4pm. Join us for an hour -- or all day if you wish. You'll be glad you did.
