Post-mortem on Art Fair Blitz

Hello to all,

I want to welcome new members and say hello to existing members. The Art Fair Blitz event on Thursday was a lot of fun. It was a good mix of people who had interesting questions, and have not experienced an art fair before. I'm glad to be the springboard for questions and a resource for the events that were taking place this past weekend.

In any case, here is some of the information that I handed out to the attendees, that people who did not get a chance to make it would have received:

NEW YORK -- Plane tickets, exhibition booths, and Christiana Vodka, oh my eye(s)! After a three month affair in Miami, the contemporary art zeitgeist converges in New York City. There are eight art fairs this year that includes The Armory Show, VOLTA, SCOPE, Pulse, DiVA, Bridge, Art Now, and Red Dot.

ArtInfo was all over the fairs. Check out their coverage on ArtForward has made its rounds and has put together a strategy on logistically visiting various sites with gallery/artist highlights on fairs with the exception of the biggest art fair (The Armory Show) and the smallest (Red Dot).

The art fairs specifies name, address, metro, and fee. The list is organized so that it follows a loop from the Lower West Side, to Chelsea, to Lincoln Center and Midtown East:

Pulse / Pier 40 - West Street & Houston Street
Metro: 1 or 9 train to Houston Street Fee: $15

Bridge / The Waterfront @[masked]th Avenue & 27th Street
Metro: C,E to 23rd Street Fee: $10

DiVA / Various sites from 20th & 26th Streets to 10th & 11th Avenues
Metro: C,E to 23rd Street Fee: Free

The Armory Show / Pier 94 - 12th Avenue & 55th Street
Metro: E,C to 50th Street Fee: $30
