CAAM, the California African American Museum and The Loft at Liz's co-curate this year’s Diverted Destruction 6 found object assemblage show. Diverted Destruction, now in its sixth year, presents works from cast-off objects often destined for landfill. This show marks the first time the museum will be collaborating with a private gallery to introduce local African American artists to new audiences at new venues.
The Loft at Liz’s will feature the work of African American artists:
Dale Brockman Davis, Charles Dickson, Doug Pearsall, Teresa Tolliver and Timothy Washington. Additional artists include Max Finkelstein, Matjames Metson and Dennis Blevins.
Simultaneously showing at CAAM will be the works of Dale Brockman Davis, Derrick Maddox and Richard Turner.
Thursday July 4th and Sunday August 4th, 12pm - 3pm
CAAM Free Assemblage Workshops with Teresa Tolliver
Saturday September 14th, 2pm - 4pm
The Loft at Liz's Assemblage Workshop
Featured artists will be on hand to guide participants. Materials will include various items donated by Liz's Antique Hardware as well as daily castaways destined for the trash. Artists and participants are welcome to bring their own materials to share with other participants.
Reception 7-10 p.m.
