Waterfalls hike-Whitewater Falls and Turtleback Falls
Details
I would like to hike, and view, both of the Whitewater falls and two or three in the Gorges State Park. This might be our last chance for summertime visits to view several of my favorites from this past year. I'm still in awe.
This is a hike 7 to 9 miles total, all moderate to easy. There will be a second meeting place at ByLo in Pisgah Forest if anyone wants to meet there. We often enjoy an after hike visit to Oscar Blues and will arrange car pools to accommodate that possibility. The primary purpose of the hike is to visit some of my favorite waterfalls in the area. The drive to the trailhead is approximately 1 hour each way so this will be a full day hike. We should be able to get back by late afternoon (5 PM) but please don't sign up if you have a specific return time. If you want to drive on your own, you can plan your own schedule, around ours, because we will never be more than a few miles from the cars. We will drive to the Lower Whitewater Falls trailhead and hike the 4.4 mile RT to view the falls and return to the car/trailhead. We will then drive to the parking lot for Upper Whitewater falls and do the quick walk to the observation deck. Lunch break. We then drive to the Gorges Park and hike in to view Rainbow and Turtleback Falls. http://www.romanticasheville.com/gorges_state_park.htm

The Gorges Park hike is another 3 to 4 mile RT depending on how many waterfalls views are taken in. This is an out and back trail.
PLEASE, any questions, please e-mail me before the hike. I'd much rather answer questions before the hike than answering them the day of the hike.
