Length: The hike is approximately 8.3 miles in length

Difficulty: Moderate

Bring some water crossing shoes just in case. We can avoid water if we decide before we start.

Hike the Mills River Loop AKA the Coffee Pot Loop which normally begins in the Mills River area off of Forest Road 5000. We will start the hike from the Blue Ridge Parkway (Beaverdam Gap Overlook-Mile Post 401), hike down the hill (Spenser Brook Trail 2.3 miles) to the Hendersonville Reservoir, Henderson Reservoir Rd between the reservoir and the parking lot, and finish with the hike back up (Trace Ridge Trail 3.1 miles-Difficulty: Moderate) to the Parkway. Starting on a long downhill and finishing with the uphill is clearly not the preferred approach, but we end up near the Pisgah Inn for dinner option. The hike may include part of the Fletcher Creek trail if we can't get across the stream (creek) using the Spencer Brook trail.
